Social ministry is actively involved in prison fellow-ship. One of our social ministries is through Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) which a local Christian based, non profit organization located in Doylestown.
During the past 30 years this local organization has made a difference in the lives of inmates at our Bucks County Correctional facility through a one-on one connection between a LAM volunteer and an inmate. Life Abundant is celebrating their 30th anniversary this spring.
The LAM volunteer visits with an assigned inmate approximately one hour each week for as long as the inmate is incarcerated sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
LAM is now seeking to expand their fellow-ship to include after care ministries. Our Chair person for Social Ministries works closely with LAM which is now researching and praying about a facility to use as a thrift type store. This store would provide limited employment for selected inmates released as well as clothing and other sorts of items for those released.
LAM which presently rents space for their office is also considering buying a multiple housing unit and using one of the sections as an office and the other units as temporary housing to a select few who are released. The funds are not available at this point but the board members and volunteers are trusting and praying that God will provide the funds and resources to make this happen.
LAM would like to expand their after care model in order to make a difference in the lives of released inmates by providing Christian based help and guidance in an effort to reduce recidivism. We need volunteers and donations to support this non profit ministry.
